Nicole is a freelance scientific illustrator who works closely with botanists to produce pen and ink “plates’ for publication. Working directly from dry, live and specimens in spirit, these illustrations communicate complex concepts, differentiate between species and inform further research.
To date, the majority of Nicole’s scientific illustration has been in collaboration with The Queensland Herbarium and published in their scientific journal, Austrobaileya.
Nicole’s scientific illustrations have also been internationally published, most recently in Kew Bulletin for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, England.
“I have no hesitation in recommending Nicole in providing outstanding scientific illustrations and associated graphic media.” — Paul Forster, Botanist.

The Wild and Not So Wild Ones have been explored in Nicoles arts practice through exhibitions, private and public commissions and catalysts for workshops.
The last series, drawn in 2023, were shown at fYRE Gallery in Braidwood, NSW. This work specifically spoke of the beauty of the animal and the juxtaposed position of the environmental damage they cause or the imminent threat they are under.
Each have their story. Slow down and listen.
